00 General Definition of Work Performs responsible clerical work involving assisting the purchasing, contracts and inventory functions for the Town as well as reconciling and approving transactions for the Town's procurement card program.
This position reports to the Purchasing & Contracts Manager.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions Processes purchase orders for inventory, services and other goods.
Distributes orders to vendors and staff.
Manages contract routing process, creating purchase orders, obtaining signatures, and recording contracts into EPR.
Reviews p-card transactions in Works to insure correct budget codes are entered.
Reconciles miscellaneous bi-weekly or monthly invoices i.

Home Depot, Lowes, Office Depot, Staples Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Thorough knowledge of procurement practices.
General knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and governmental accounting.
Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
Ability to analyze financial information.
Ability to perform independent research and develop a recommendation.
Ability to work under pressure on several projects simultaneously and within time constraints.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
Skill in the use of a variety of office machines.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to deal effectively with the general public.
Ability to adapt to changing technology.
Special Qualifications Possession of valid Class B North Carolina's driver's license.
Certified Local Government Purchasing Officer within 3-5 years of hire.
Working Conditions Employees may sit frequently or most of the time, and may stand and walk sometimes.
Standard vision, vocal and hearing requirements needed.
